What is embroidery digitizing?
Embroidery digitizing converts artwork into stitch instructions that an embroidery machine can read. It is more than tracing an image: stitch types, direction, density, underlay, pull compensation, and sequencing all influence the result.
Digitizing for different applications
- Caps and hats: Consider the curved surface, placement, and stitch direction.
- Left-chest logos: Balance legibility and stitch detail at a compact size.
- Jackets and apparel: Consider fabric behavior, coverage, and the intended finish.
- Patches: Plan for borders, small text, and the patch's finished dimensions.
What to send with your request
Provide the clearest artwork you have, the final dimensions, the item or material being embroidered, and your machine's preferred file format. If you have a sample stitch-out or reference, include it with your request.
File formats
Tell us the format your machine or workflow requires—for example, DST, PES, EXP, JEF, or another supported format. Please specify the exact format in your quote request rather than assuming a particular format is included.
Quality and production expectations
Small text, gradients, fine lines, and highly detailed artwork may need simplification for reliable stitching. We recommend confirming the design's intended size and application before digitizing begins.
